Provincial Superior - Very Rev. Fr. Baviri Suresh Babu

The Provincial designate for the province of Visakhapatnam, was born on 22nd March 1972. He hails from St. Joan of Arc Church, Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.

His Biography

Very Rev. Fr. BAVIRI SURESH BABU MSFS, the Provincial elect was born on 22nd March 1972. He hails from St. Joan of Arc Church, Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh.

After the completion of his secondary school education he joined the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales. He completed his minor Seminary at Fransalian Vidyajyothi, Nidadavole and spent a year of Novitiate at Salesianum, Visakhapatnam and made his first Religious Profession on 10th June 1992. He completed his Philosophical studies at Suvidya College, Bangalore and Theological studies at St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bangalore. He did his Regency at Fransalian Vidyajyothi, Nidadavole.

He received his priestly ordination on 5th May 2000.

As an young priest he was fully involved in pastoral ministry in Arogya Matha Church and SFS School, Khammam. In 2001 he was appointed as the Dean of Studies at Fransalian Vidyajyothi, Nidadavole where he showed his aptitude for formation of seminarians. He was sent to Fribourg, Switzerland in 2002 for higher studies. He obtained Licentiate in Sacred Theology with special focus on Moral Theology in the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. In 2008 he was appointed as the Novice Master and served the province for six years in this capacity, during when he was also elected as the provincial councilor. In 2014 he was appointed as the Director of MSFS Dhyanshram. He served as the Provincial Secretary for two years from 2015 to 2017. From 2017 he served the Congregation as the Director of De Sales and Mermier (DSM) Resource and Animation Centre, Hyderabad, while being the Superior and Procurator of SFS School, Nizamabad. In 2018 he was made the Administrator of MSFS House, General Secretariat, Hyderabad. In 2019 he was elected as the General Councillor and General Secretary for Formation. On 29th May 2021, he was appointed as the Provincial Superior of Visakhapatnam Province, for the period of three years. He assumed his office as the 11th Provincial of Visakhapatnam Province on July 03, 2021.
