A Short Brief About Shabad Parish Ministry
Shabad was made a parish in 1989 and was entrusted to the M.S.F.S. Catholic Community of Migrant Reddy families were living in Shabad Mariapuram for the past forty years. This is the first catholic community of Shabad mission. Rev. Fr. Greenway when he was the parish priest of Umminthal had already made contacts with people of S.C. communities at Arokiapuraam (which was called Shabad Harijanwada then) and Keshagudem. Fr. Mathew gave baptisms at Arokiapuram in 1990. Later a good number of people in groups were baptized in 1997 and 2000 at Arokiapuram.
After long and patient work in Keshagudem (Kesavagudem) a good number of people were baptized in 2003. In the main centre we have no catholic families. So we celebrate Mass in the sister’s Convent on all week days. On Sundays Mass is celebrated in all the three villages where there are Churches. In the past, Frs. J. Ravi Kumar, Francis Stephen, Devasia Ayilukunnel, Konda Reddy etc. worked in the parish. Now Fr. Thambi Joseph is the parish priest.
